If a male hero breaks down and cries in despair on film, or if he falls in love he's not labled weak...the same should be true for female heroes.

Just my opinion, and Padme and Leia were both 'real' female characters, they both had their moments of strength as well as their moments of weakness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5543195171933661664.post-55157333535582274762016-07-30T20:00:08.983-04:002016-07-30T20:00:08.983-04:00I still have to get around to viewing The Force Aw...I still have to get around to viewing The Force Awakens a second time myself. Hearing the special features on the Blu-Ray went straight back to "aren't you just so pleased we had so much stuff in front of the cameras?", and some of the continued rhetoric about the movie at that time of release, somehow dissipated any compulsion I might have had to buy it. The movie did get on Netflix in Canada just lately, but I keep seeming to find other things to do... I do sort of want to confront my previous impression that Rey's "I can't leave--my family could be back any moment" character complication amounted to a programmed-in compulsion to keep her where she was, to say nothing of another impression of her starting out as a loner interacting only with unpleasant types, only to swing to getting along just fine with the other main characters once they start showing up.

In any case, I do sort of feel that "I have to be very careful commenting about characters of the other gender" feeling, but I'm inclined to agree with what you said about all the other female characters.Keith Palmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03089472514199200547noreply@blogger.com
