In another week when the vote count differs between matches, Yoda won Match 1 with 5 votes out of 8 (62%), while the Riddler won Match 2 with 4 votes out of 7 (57%)

While Match 1 had more overall votes than Match 2, both our Victors scored all but one, with Gobby winning 6 votes out of 7 (85%) and Roadrunner winning 4 votes out of 5 (80%).

We got a slew of troublemakers this week.

GM16: Mad Bombers/Run like the Wind Victors

Well, those were clear victories!

The Victors for the third round of the preliminaries are...

The Green Goblin

"This is why only fools are heroes - Because you never know when some lunatic will come along with a sadistic choice!"

and...

The Roadrunner

"BEEP BEEP *zip-tang!*"

Goblin won handily with 8 votes out of 10 (80%) and a clear lead. Roadrunner outstripped his opponant's early lead by a mid-week influx leaving him 7 votes out of 9 (78%).


Now, let's hang our heads as Geekdom Madness bids a final farewell to Slappy Squirrel ("Ah forget it. Here's some dynamite down your pants!") and Sylvanas Windrunner ("I have no time for games!")

The most interesting thing about this round is the fact that more people voted in the first match than they did for the second. The first match had 13 votes, with the Girls garnering 8 votes (62%) to the Roadrunner's 5 (38%). The second match only had a total of 9 votes, where Charizard's 6 votes (66%) beat Sylvanas' 3 (33%).

I was seriously not expecting this! Out of 13 votes, Ariel got 54% while Daffy got blasted with 46%. I figured it would be close, but I'm pleasantly surprised that we now have not one but two women going into the quarter-finals. I guess nothing can beat a Mermaid in the water.

I hate organized sports, but I love tournament brackets.

What's the Pedulum of Doom Doing There?

I don't get people sometimes.

Many people remember fondly the film "Space Jam", a movie that nearly destroyed the image of the Looney Tunes by making them basically do a two-hour basketball commercial.

Yet when a good director captures the essence of the classic Looney Tunes nearly perfectly, while updating it for the modern age and adding some of the better (though admittedly not quite best) live-action/animation mixing since "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," it not only flops but goes down as a synonym for "bad Looney Tunes picture".

It's not fair.

"Looney Tunes: Back in Action" turns 10 this month.

JJJ: A Measure of Character

I came to a revelation as I was making last week's video.

A few months back, when I wrote about my Top 11 Favorite Star Wars Characters, I listed Yoda as number 1. And yes, in the Star Wars Universe, I do like Yoda best.

But if I had to pick which star Wars character I would put at the top of my list of favorite fictional characters in general, well it would be good ol’ Jar Jar Binks.

Welcome to the Twelve Days of Listmas! This first one is more of an honorable mention set of lists, since they didn't seem to belong with any other theme. Still, they're important to me and they shed a little bit of light onto the way my brain works.

Pronoun Trouble

I normally wouldn't do an anniversary review of a specific cartoon short, but this is the 50th anniversary of the awkward middle child of the "Bugs, Daffy, and Elmer" Trilogy. Everyone remembers the first part, 1951's "Rabbit Fire," for the classic "Duck Season Rabbit Season" bit. But this one is actually funnier and more overlooked

The only one that topped that was the third installment, 1953's "Duck Rabbit Duck", though more on that next year...
