Geekdom Madness 2015: Weird Whatevers/Monochrome Violence

This Week: Magic vs Technology and Strength vs Agility!

....kind of....maybe....ish?

Let's meet the combatants:

MATCH 1: Weird Whatevers

THE GREAT GONZO

Left on Earth a long time ago by a space-faring race of...whatevers, Gonzo became friends with the rest of the Muppets and took his...unique talents to the stage for many years.

Pros
* Almost unshakable positive attitude
* Consummate showman and iconoclast
* Extremely durable with a nigh-unreachable pain threshold

Cons
* Has a difficult time being taken seriously
* Being a daredevil, property damage often follows in his wake
* His girlfriend is a chicken - literally

RUMPELSTILTZKIN

An imp who is obsessed with making deals. Most famously, he helped a miller's daughter spin straw into gold in exchange for first a necklace, then a ring, and then the woman's first born child. At least he offered her a way out of that last one - guessing his name. Which she did by cheating. Maybe he should have made her guess how it was spelled (Rumpelstiltskin, Rumplestiltskin, and Rumpelstilzchen are all valid spellings).

Pros
* Always willing to make a deal
* Always honors his deals
* Possesses powerful magic

Cons
* His dealmaking can easily turn against him
* Anger management issues
* What would an imp want with a baby?

MATCH 2: Monochrome Violence

JOHNNY C.

"Nny" for short, he is an EXTREMELY disturbed young man. Not much is known about his background even by him, but he was likely a struggling artist before the forces of the universe chose him - quite without his knowledge, mind you - to become a "waste-lock" for humanity's negative thoughts and feelings. Rather than turn these feelings inward like most in his position, he has become a homicidal maniac with a massive and rising body count.

Pros
* Does his best to only kill people who arguably deserve it (though his "aim" is often sub-par)
* Has a sensitive, intellectual side
* Is the creative force behind "Happy Noodle Boy."

Cons
* I mentioned the grisly murderer part, right?
* Short temper and prone to wild mood swings
* Is the creative force behind "Happy Noodle Boy."

MARV

Marv is the quintessential noble barbarian, a true ancient warrior. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't born in ancient times. He was born in modern-day Basin City, where "disturbing the peace" is the LEAST of his legal offenses. Still, if you're going to take a small sting at any part of "Sin City"'s corrupt underbelly of badder fish, Marv's the muscle you bring.

Pros
* Undying loyalty to friends
* Incredibly resourceful
* Incredibly strong and inhumanly durable

Cons
* A face so jagged that women generally stay away
* Capable of fairly despicable acts, though he tends to save those for people who have done much worse
* Sometimes forgets his medicine. When you've got a "condition," it's bad to forget your medicine.

Final Verdict
For Match 1: Even though Rumpel is being represented here by the show "Once Upon a Time" (because it's my favorite iteration and the only reason I still grudgingly watch the show), it really is any and all incarnations of the character that are competing here.
For Match 2: For this one it's important to vote for the characters and not necessarily their creators.

As always, make sure you're viewing the WEB version of the site and vote in the polls (remember, there are two now) on the right-hand side of the screen. Polls close Friday, and results posted on Saturday. Feel free to discuss your picks in the comments below.
