We Are Many

First impressions of World of Warcraft: Legion, after a month of Beta and a few post-100 levels.

Minor Spoilers Ahead.

After Over a Month of Nothing, Hey! Post-A-Day!

Yes yes, like I always do after not having anything to say for a month, I try and go for a week of one post per day before going off into obscurity again for a while. So I'm here to announce that.

What I won't have this year is a standard Halloween entry, since due to budget and time concerns I'm just pulling my Vader suit out, and it's like - who hasn't seen that?

I'll also be stepping outside my comfort zone a bit this week, so be prepared.

Lastly, this December I'm bringing back my Listmas thing from my early days, to simply update based on new material and changing opinions.

Watch this space.

GM16: Mad Bombers/Run like the Wind Victors

Well, those were clear victories!

The Victors for the third round of the preliminaries are...

The Green Goblin
"This is why only fools are heroes - Because you never know when some lunatic will come along with a sadistic choice!"

and...

The Roadrunner
"BEEP BEEP *zip-tang!*"

Goblin won handily with 8 votes out of 10 (80%) and a clear lead. Roadrunner outstripped his opponant's early lead by a mid-week influx leaving him 7 votes out of 9 (78%).

Now, let's hang our heads as Geekdom Madness bids a final farewell to Slappy Squirrel ("Ah forget it. Here's some dynamite down your pants!") and Sylvanas Windrunner ("I have no time for games!")

Here's the breakdown. Check back tomorrow!

We are Legion

Good news: Content!

Bad news: Nothing to do with Star Wars - I'm on a sabbatical from the galaxy far, far away in case people are wondering but I hope to come back to my Jedi News column this September.

In the meantime, I just watched my first YouTube Livestream. Guess what it was about!

MM: Skylanders update/Clone Wars update

Okay, so a couple of things.

First, being Monday I'm doing a pseudo-Mons-Day post regarding my Skylanders grades. I've recently decided to retire the O.W.L. system of grading the 3DS version and will post some revised stats alongside the console stats (which I'm researching on places like IGN and DarkSpyro). I'll also be taking some pictures to go along with these figurine reviews, so I should have the first batch up by...next week?

Secondly, a Clone Wars update. So far, StarWars.com has failed to post the full episode of the returning season that aired on Saturday, so my review of that may take a little longer. Hopefully not too long, though. From my understanding, this is either the 100th episode or the 100th episode is nigh, so I'll have more details on that front soon*

*"soon" is a registered trademark of Blizzard Entertainment and is appears here under fair use.

WW Mid-Week Update: Mists Cinematic

So I know I missed another WoW Wednesday, and I don't know why. This is pretty much the highlight of the last few weeks on the WoW front, and despite it being everywhere I wanted to post it here too (I MEANT to do it last Wednesday, but...)

This is without a doubt my favorite cinematic from any of the WoW expansions, and it just gets me so psyched for the game.

Why am I posting it today instead of cutting my losses and waiting for Wednesday? Because this week's WW proper will be all about some exciting and dubious developments in Star Wars: The Old Republic! Stay tuned!

WW: Pandaria is Approaching.

This will just be a quicker update like Monday. My supervisor is on vacation for the next two weeks, so I've picked up a few extra shifts this week and next week.

I'm sure most of you are aware that the release date for Mists of Pandaria has been announced in the past week. September 25th, 2012.

It's oddly early, but I'm optimistic that it means Blizzard is confident that it's ready. Beta certainly seems on-track, bugs notwithstanding.

But it kind of sucks for me for two reasons.

1. September 25th is my wife's birthday. My wife is not a fan of WoW.

2. This year, September 25th happens to be Erev Yom Kippur, or the eve of Yom Kippur. This is a Jewish Holiday (which means it's on a lunar calendar, i.e. sundown to sundown) that represents the Day of Atonement. We fast and pretty much do nothing but pray in temple for 24 hours (12 if you count sleep time).

That means: no food, and certainly no electronics.

On the plus side, I'll miss launch lag.

WW: The Lost Article, or Time to Defend WoW Now

All right, so I defended charges of racism in Star Wars. But what about the rampant charges of racism AND sexism levied at my favorite video game, World of Warcraft?

Well, while I understand a lot more where those accusations are coming from, I ultimately think that they come to nothing as well.

I've written about this before, and thus am reposting a column I wrote for my college newspaper shortly before Cataclysm was released.

MM & WW: World of Warcraft Pet Battles!

So, the new Pet Battle system is up and running on the Beta servers for testing and....

....it's buggy as hell. But when it works, it's fun.

I Saw This Today on the WoW Beta and Now My Life is Complete

I like it more than cats doing a handstand
Or reruns of American Bandstand
It's no lie, I'll shout it from the grandstands
I love Pandaren Caramelldansen!

For the record, the Male's dance is a slowed-down version of LMFAO's "Party Rock" dance. Not a fan of the song, but the video is pretty cool if you replace the audio with Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes:

Cheating on your MMO

Where do people get this notion of only playing one video game at a time?

I can understand when it comes to a subscription service and someone can't afford more than one. But that's not what seems to be going on here.
