GM16: Tall, Dark, and Moody/Mind Games Victors
Sorry for the delay, I'm still struggling to get back on any sort of schedule. Then again, given the lackluster voting numbers, we all may be.

"Riddle me this: The poor have it, the rich need it, and if you eat it you'll die. What is it?" |
Snape won 5 votes out of 7 (71%), and the Riddler snagged 4 out of 6 (66%). Some of our lower numbers, but we're just getting going.
Now, let's hang our heads as Geekdom Madness bids a final farewell to Lt. Worf ("There is nothing shameful in falling to a superior enemy.") and Jean Grey ("It's better this way. Quick. Clean. Final.")
Here's the breakdown. Check back tomorrow!

GM15 - QF: Super Showdown/Back in Black Victors
Alright folks. We're doing things a little differently. We're giving you the vote tallies BEFORE we announce the victors.
Both matches had a total of 8 votes. Match 1 was a runaway 6/2 (75%/25%). The other was again, surprise surprise, a dead tie (4/4, 50%/50%, etc).
I pulled out my dice again. At first I decided to do best two out of three, but then decided that wasn't fair - I had never done that with the other ties. Therefore, in the end, I have to go with my original rolls: 17 to 2.
The Victors for the first round of the Quarter Final, and the first of 2015's Elite Four are...
That means that Abby has tied with, and luckily broken a tie against, two VERY widely recognized geek icons in The Penguin and Charizard. One must wonder if this streak will continue.
Here's the breakdown. Check back tomorrow!

Geekdom Madness: TRG - Secret Crises on Infinate Wars Victor
This was really really close. It was actually the first in a while that was tied at one-point. But even with the early poll closing, some last-minute votes squeaked by, and there can be only one.

"Do I still think in those little yellow boxes? Oooh I missed you, little yellow boxes! What FUN we shall have together!" |
I had been following this poll's progress closer than most, and at almost every turn, the combatants were completely tied. I was actually looking forward to using my omnipotent blog-writer tiebreaker powers to call this one for Gobby, but at almost literally the last second Deadpool received an influx of votes, putting him at 60% (9 votes) to Green Goblin's 40% (6 votes).
I wonder if Deadpool himself got a hold of several IP adresses this morning....
Anyway, as always, here's the breakdown. Check back tomorrow!

Like What You Wanna Like! Defenses of Underappreciated Films (And More!) Part 1!
Last week I asked you all to write in with media and franchises you love that seem to have a sizable hatedom (aside from I-III, since I always talk about them). I swore that I would talk a little bit about each with the following rules:
1. If I liked it too, I would praise it for its greatness.
2. If I didn't like it, I would be honest with my criticism while still emphasizing both your right to like it and its right to exist, plus finding at least one genuinely nice thing to say about it (and not dismissing it as alltogether "bad" regardless of how I feel).
3. If I haven't seen it, I'll explain why while refusing to pass too much judgement and, again, emphasizing both your right to like it and its right to exist.
You all gave me a lot of great things to talk about that fall into all three categories. You gave me so much that, while I envisioned this as a single post, Blogspot wouldn't let me put all the necessary tags on it requiring me to split it into two. This actually worked out for the best, since about half of the suggestions came from Superhero stuff. I'll start with that and give the rest of you a little more time to suggest more.
Some Spoilers ahead.
