Good News Bad News

Good News: My new laptop is in.

Bad News: I was unable to make further progress on FireRed before then.

Good News: There may be a way I can transfer the files so I can continue on the new computer.

Bad News: The old computer has not yet been able to turn on so that I can test my method, which still might not work even when it does.

Good News: Whether it works or not, I will still get to the other games at some point

Bad News: It may or may not be in the Screenshot LP method.

Good News: Because I'm able to actually do some barebones streaming now. Watch here for erratically scheduled streams and VODs. Tentatively planning on starting Baldur's Gate 3 at some point tomorrow.

Release Date

The final chapters of Let's Play Pokémon FireRed will be ready to begin posting starting the week of March 5th.

EDIT FROM THE FUTURE: I should know better than to make promises. The day after I posted this, my workload doubled. Every time I had the chance to really work on this, I was too burnt out to do anything. I'm sorry if I got everyone's hopes up. I'm still not abandoning the project, I just need to be in a better place.

Update

The Disney trip has come and gone, but internet issues still persist. It is unlikely that we'll see any concluding episodes of the Let's Play anytime soon until the internet issues are solved, since the bulk of the work needs to be on the laptop. That being said, after a few days resting from the trip, I do want to start at least working on the back-end stuff again (playing and screencapping and formatting said screencaps) so whenever these issues get resolved I can put out the remainder fairly quickly.

Further Delays

I am not dead nor have I given up. Some work on Episode 25 has happened since my last update, but things like an ever increasing lack of free time and frequent internet issues have been keeping me from getting back on schedule. I had hoped to get the series done well before my daughter's Wish Trip to Disney World in the first week of October, but that looks less and less possible now.

I hate that this kind of thing is happening again, but I'm still proud I went six months of intensive weekly updates before this stuff happened, and it took The Virus (tm) to knock me off track completely.

Quick Update

Recovered from Covid and moved back home albeit bringing kids and ex with me (long story, landlords are bad). Work on Episode 25 and beyond of Let's Play Pokémon FireRed will resume on August 15th after a limited theatre engagement next week, and should conclude at a decent pace from there.

My next big project for this blog will be heavily focused on Marvel United as I finally have all my boxes in from the Kickstarter, though I may pace myself wider to avoid burnout again (it will be less backend-intensive though, so we'll see). Other posts may be sprinkled in as the mood takes me.

As I said before, though, while my next Pokémon Let's Play won't be for a little while after, I do plan on doing many more. It will either be in the same style, or if I am able to stream by then I might change ut to video. Or maybe some kind of hybrid. It depends on what my situation is when the time finally comes.

It Finally Got Me

After two and a half years of trying to keep my kids safe, everyone got Covid last weekend. The good news is that with my ex and I being fully vaxxed and the kids all having shot 1 of 3, it was not nearly as bad as it could have been. The bad news is it still knocked everyone on their butts and while the mend is in sight nobody is there yet.

It will still be at least a few days more before I feel up to continuing work on Episode 25, and even once I am it will be slow going as I'm going to have to work back up to being able to spend a lot of time on it. But there should only be a handful of Episodes left so the Let's Play will absolutely be done within the next 90 days.

And even once the Let's Play is done, even though I'm not starting the next one right away (there WILL be a next one, just not 100% sure when or in what form), I have a few thoughts I will likely want to share on the MCU, Marvil United, and Disney Villainous to round out the rest of the year.

In the meantime, stay safe and keep watching this space.

I Am Altering the Schedule. Pray I Don't Alter It Any Further

Just a small update. The kids are still very time and energy intensive and on top of that I just got hired for a new show which takes up even more time and energy. So in keeping this blog updated I had a choice to either continue the FireRed Let's Play on schedule OR catch up on the Disney Star Wars EU as I planned back in November. Not both.

And honestly, even though it's more work, I'm finding the Let's Play far more rewarding and interesting right now.

2022 is absolutely the year I will catch up on the Disney EU and you will know all my thoughts. It's just that April will not be the month. Besides, I'm thinking of showing my kids the Lucas 6 next May (as I don't think I can really hide it from my oldest much longer), and I think my dive into the EU would make more sens in the lead-up to that. Hopefully by then I'll be transitioning to going home a few days a week and thus have more time and energy to keep a few more things going at once.

Because there's no way I'm not moving right on to other games in the series once FireRed is over.

Expect the next chapter more or less on time Saturday morning (and in the case of an unforseen emergency, no later than Sunday morning)
