Geekdom Madness: Quarter-Final - Cat and Frog

Welcome to the Quarter-Finals of Geekdom Madness! We've had a lot of surprises so far, and the competition is getting tense! We're closing in on the end, but we've still a ways to go.

So let's get to it!

Welcome back:

JAR JAR BINKS

I picked Jar Jar Binks for this competition because he became one of my favorite Star Wars characters the moment I saw him in The Phantom Menace. In spite of the overwhelming mainstream hate, I never felt negatively towards him. In fact, part of the genesis of this competition came from knowing that he would likely never be represented in the Star Wars website's tournament, and seeing how far he would really get.

Over the last year or so, I came to the realization that he really is my all-time favorite Star Wars character, and the one in the Saga I identify the most - as I've explained in many of my articles. Jar Jar tops my personal list of favorite fictional characters of all time (and one of only two from my top ten that have made it this far).

CATWOMAN

I picked Catwoman for this competition for two main reasons. The first is that I wanted a Batman villain in the mix. Batman is one of my favorite superhero universes, and the only one from DC that I can really get into. But what I love most about Batman is the Rogues Gallery. I have a very difficult time deciding which Batman villain is truly my favorite, and it really fluctuates between the so-called "Big Four" (Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler) and Man-Bat (because half-human hybrids rock).

The second is that, when making my initial roster, I came across a frankly disgusting lack of female contenders. I racked my brain to think of some that I felt would be strong, and Catwoman was one of the first that sprang to mind immediately that had a very powerful and distinct personality. Add that one of my favorite music pieces of all time - from one of my favorite films of all time - was a theme written just for her, well she had every right to be in this tournament.

Final Thoughts
You know who I'm voting for, but this isn't about me - it's about you guys. Every character who has made it thus far is a strong contender, and frankly I'd be happy with any of them making it to the top (well, almost, but we'll get to that).

As always, make sure you're viewing the WEB version of the site and vote in the poll on the right-hand side of the screen. Poll closes Friday, and results posted on Saturday. Feel free to discuss your pick in the comments below.

  1. Holy CRAP 8 votes already? How the heck did that happen?

  2. As of Monday 8:30 AM - 11 votes ... Eleven is a prime number, so Pollsnack isn't auto-multiplying the votes ... Could it be Pollsnack testing? Or perhaps you've gained some fans from the Pollsnack help desk - I hope so.

    1. Not entirely sure what you're getting at here.

The number of total votes always change from week to week, so obviously some people care more about some competitors than others.

The shock is mainly having this many so soon.
