GM15: X Marks the Spot/Gotham Rogues Victors

Only seven of you care about these, eh?

The Victors for the second round of the preliminaries are...

Nightcrawler
*BAMF!*

and...

The Penguin
"But what it all comes down to is: who's holding the umbrella?"

Out of seven votes each, Penguin easily handled Riddler 5 (72%) to 2 (28%). However, Jean and Nightcrawler were neck and neck until a single vote pushed it in Nightcrawler's favor, giving him 4 votes (57%) to Jean's 3 (43%)

Here's the breakdown. Check back tomorrow!

FYI, fixed a typo to one of tomorrow's contestants. You're welcome.

  1. Say, did you know that they were gonna create a high school AU of Batman called "Gotham High?" It got cancelled for unknown reasons, maybe funding or the fact that it was too odd of a concept to execute? I think it would've been an interesting idea. Doubt they're gonna revive the concept, makes me sad that they didn't do it.

    1. Actually, I'd LOVE to see a Spider-Man version of that, with Richard Parker going to ESU with his brother Ben and Ben's squeeze May, meeting the future Mary Parker, fending off student journalist J. Jonah Jameson, and studying science next to Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, and Curt Connors.

Now that I've typed that, it'll never happen because legal reasons.

  2. Interesting.....though I would prefer it if Peter Parker was going to school with his enemies and with allies. Buuuuuuut that's just my opinion.

My favorite high school AU will always be X-Men Evolution. That guitar riff of a theme tune! It was a good take on the X-Men, although more unconventional. I remember at a camp in 2011 me and my friend would write self-insert fics where I was shipped with Toad.

    1. That wouldn't work, since Pete's whole shtick is being late-high-school/early-college-age anyway, at least to start. With Richard and Mary we can develop previously undeveloped characters as well as seeing younger versions of important characters like Norman and JJJ.

  3. Yeah. Kinda reminds me of how some people write HP fanfic prequels focusing on James Lily and Severus, the whole "previous generation" or Danny Phantom fics focusing on Vlad Maddie and Jack.

  4. Have you seen the design for the Suicide Squad movie's Joker? He's being played by Jared Leto. He looks like a juggalo/Marilyn Manson/Sid Vicious love child. I could go either way with his design, I just don't like Jared Leto because he's not a nice human being that doesn't treat groupies well.

    1. I've heard quite the opposite about Leto, but there's a reason I don't follow celebrity gossip unless something so undeniably and proof-positively heinous happens that I can't escape it.

As for the design, it's a resounding "meh." Though I HATED the design for Ledger's Joker and he ended up knocking it out of the park, so we'll see.

Frankly, as much as I love the genre, Deadpool is the only superhero movie I'm even remotely excited for right now.
