You'll Shoot Your Eye Out, Kid!

You know, I wanted to give this its own space because it deserves it. But you know what?

It's a Christmas Story. It turns 30 this month.

We all know it. We've all seen it (if you haven't, what's wrong with you? Either go out and get it or wait until Christmas and turn on TBS where they play it all day). We all love it. Even though it takes place obviously in the late 40s/early 50s, it's pretty much most Americans' childhoods in some form or another.

Honestly, 'nuff said.

  1. I noticed Raphie's decoder ring has 1940 printed on it, guess that is probably the year it takes place. Still can't believe it is that old now. Jean Shepherd made several films about the Parkers. He made 4 TV movies and one theatrical sequel called My Summer Story. All of them are based on his short stories that were first printed in Playboy of all things.

    1. Just goes to show: Don't knock Playboy. Despite being a "nudie mag", they're much classier and smarter than even their more PG cousins.

  2. What do you think of the sequel to this movie, Nilbog? (Yes-they made a sequel to this.).

    1. I never really saw it. I am aware of it, though.
