Final Verdict
As I was typing this, I suddenly realized that these matches are almost exactly the same - They're both between characters who lost to their years' Non-Finalist Elite Four and characters who lost to Quarter-Finalists who would lose to eventual Finalists. This makes who stays and who goes a much harder decision.
